Note: Participants to the workshop will be entitled to buy an entry ticket to the Maritime Museum for 8,00 Euro instead of 13,00 Euro (ask for a voucher at the conference reception).

Activity options are reserved to workshop participants. Please, choose no more than one scientific diving activity and one “dry” activity for each workshop participant.

 

Note: Only 4 places are available for each diving activity. Dry activities allow for 10 participants. Places will be allocated on a first come – first served basis. For specific requests, please contact workshop@reefcheckitalia.it

Scientific diving activities (*):

3D reconstruction of the Mohawk Deer wreck (sold out)

Participants will be trained to record videos to build 3d reconstructions of diving sites.

Participants will visit experimental restoration areas and the main techniques to transplant sponges and coral will be shown.

This seminar will present a portfolio of Citizen Science initiatives, with emphasis on their potential for research, society and the diving industry.

Seminar - Green diving operations - 360° benefits

This workshop will present the benefits of green diving operations, followed by role-playing and an open floor discussion of the challenges and solutions by the participants.

Seminar - Divers as stewards of the marine environment - which one are you and what are the benefits?
This workshop will include a lecture describing the main typologies of scuba divers as stewards of the marine environment and the positive effect of each typology in and outside Marine Protected Areas. The lecture will be followed by a practical group exercise in which divers will be asked to identify the typology they relate to and come up with ways to meet the goals set for that particular typology. The workshop is intended also as an exercise to understand the benefits (for divers and the environment) which each typology holds.

Participants to field activities must possess a valid diving licence enabling them to the given activity, and are fully responsible for their underwater behaviour.
